JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER ANNOUNCES 2024-25 SEASON OF WORLD PREMIERE COMMISSIONS AND UNIQUE COLLABORATIONS; JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER ORCHESTRA WITH WYNTON MARSALIS WORLDWIDE TOURS; AND IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS

37th season features 24 unique programs celebrating Integration in Jazz and the 20th anniversary of The House of Swing:

Ten Unique Concerts by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO);

Opening Night: “Hot Jazz and Swing” featuring the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, music directed by Loren Schoenberg;

The 20th Anniversary of Frederick P. Rose Hall: Rubén Blades with iconic Brazilian band Boca Livre and Costa Rica’s Editus Ensemble in Rose Theater; Bryan Carter and the Jazz at Pride Orchestra celebrating the life and times of civil rights pioneer Bayard Rustin in The Appel Room; and Jon Faddis honoring the legacy of Dizzy Gillespie at Dizzy’s Club;

“Jazz Americana” – Music of America’s folk traditions performed by JLCO;

“The JLCO Plays the ’70s” includes works by Weather Report, Dexter Gordon, Betty Carter; “Contemporary Jazz Masterpieces” – music from the 1990s through today; and “Best of the JLCO” – select compositions and arrangements by JLCO members;

Cuban maestro Paquito D’Rivera at Rose Theater celebrating his 70th Anniversary in Music;

“Jump In The Line! Celebrating Harry Belafonte with René Marie” at The Appel Room with René Marie, Etienne Charles, and Wycliffe Gordon;

“Bebop Revolution,” including arrangements of tunes by Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, Woody Herman, Billy Eckstine, Boyd Raeburn, and Machito;

“The Real Ambassadors: The Untold Story” with Louis Armstrong House Museum and the Brubeck Family at The Appel Room;

Monty Alexander celebrating his 80th birthday with an all-star band and actors Delroy Lindo and Sheryl Lee Ralph;

JLCO’s popular Journey Through Jazz Series with Music Director Carlos Henriquez featuring Afro-Cuban repertoire followed by a spotlight on the swing tradition and the All-American rhythm section;

“Cool School & Hard Bop,” featuring works from Dave Brubeck, Gerry Mulligan, Modern Jazz Quartet, Clifford Brown, Art Blakey, and Horace Silver;

Christian McBride and Friends honors Ray Brown with Benny Green and Gregory Hutchinson, followed by set featuring McBride, Nicole Glover, Ely Perlman, Mike King, and Savannah Harris at Rose Theater;

Joshua Redman Group featuring Gabrielle Cavassa at Rose Theater;

Annual Valentine’s Day Concert by NEA Jazz Master Dianne Reeves and an extended run of perennial favorite “Big Band Holidays” with singing sensations Ekep Nkwelle and Robbie Lee at Rose Theater;

Clarinet virtuoso Anat Cohen celebrating her 50th birthday at The Appel Room;

The second annual Unity Jazz Festival;

Jazz For Young People concerts exploring “What Is the Jazz Age?” hosted by Catherine Russell, and “Who Is Gerry Mulligan?” featuring the Future of Jazz Orchestra;

Essentially Ellington National High School Jazz Competition and Festival celebrates milestone 30th anniversary
